Aventon
Best for: CommutersPros
- Broad commuter lineup
- Online and dealer buying
Cons
- Model pricing varies by season
Velotric
Best for: Value-focused ridersPros
- Commuter and folding models
Cons
- Mostly online-only

Aventon and Velotric both sell commuter e-bikes online. The useful difference on 6 November 2026 is what it costs to send a bike back, not a score and not a hill test. Warranty length by component and the price of a specific model were not copied, because those pages either leave models blank or change with the season.
Return rules we read
| Aventon | Velotric | |
|---|---|---|
| Window | 14 days from delivery | 14 days from the day you receive it. The page says there is no mileage restriction during the try. |
| Unused bike | Odometer 1 mile or less. Refund minus shipping. Return shipping is $125 for a bike. No restocking fee in that unused case. | Restocking fee $200. A prepaid label comes after the return is approved. Do not ship before that. |
| Used bike | Within 14 days, under 20 miles, undamaged. You pay return shipping plus a restocking fee of 50% of the purchase price. | 22% of the bike's item price, plus the condition rules on the policy (clean, original contents). |
| Outbound shipping | Free on orders of $100 or more to the 48 continental US states, including complete bicycles. Outside those states, the page says shipping depends on weight and size. Outbound shipping is not refunded when you return a bike. | Not restated here. Read the policy for your address. |
| Bought at a shop | The terms we read are the site's terms. | The return policy applies to velotricbike.com orders. A shop sale uses that shop's policy. |
| Our link | Official site, not an affiliate link | Official site, not an affiliate link |
Aventon sources, read 6 November 2026: the terms of service (returns and shipping) and the limited warranty (new US or Canada purchases on or after 1 January 2026; covered warranty shipping is not charged to the customer; shipping damage must be reported within seven days). Velotric source: the return and refund policy. We did not find a current price or a Class 1, 2 or 3 label for a named model on those policy pages.

What a bad fit costs, on paper
Assumption: you decide on day 10 that the bike is wrong, and you follow each brand's return process. This is not a ride and not a refund we received.
| Situation | Aventon friction named in the terms | Velotric friction named in the policy |
|---|---|---|
| Unused, within the window | $125 return shipping. Outbound shipping is not refunded. | $200 restocking fee. The label is prepaid after approval, so the $200 is the fee we can cite, not a shipping quote. |
| Ridden, still inside the window | Return shipping plus 50% of the purchase price, and the odometer must be under 20 miles. | 22% of the bike item price, if the bike meets the condition rules. |
Which brand to open first
- You may return an unused bike and want the smaller published fee: Aventon's $125 return shipping is the number in its terms. You still lose the outbound shipping.
- You want to ride before deciding, and you accept a larger fee: Velotric's page says the try has no mileage cap, then charges $200 if unused or 22% if used.
- You want a local test ride: Aventon's marketing talks about dealers. We did not count dealers, so treat a shop near you as something you have to check.
- You need class, motor or range: open the model page. We are not printing those specs.
- Alaska, Hawaii or another address outside the 48 states: Aventon says shipping is by weight and size. Read the carrier note on the terms page before you order a battery.
Models
Velotric's warranty page names Nomad 2, Nomad 2X, Breeze 1, Fold 1 Plus, Triker, Discover 3, Discover M, Tempo, Summit 2 and GoMad as models that can get an extra year of coverage if you register in time. That list is not a full catalog, and it does not state class or price. Aventon's warranty says some models are excluded and then leaves the exclusion list as a blank in the text we read, so we are not naming excluded Aventon models.
